Horn Point Renovation
Annapolis, Maryland
The small size and bustling waterfront views from Eastport’s Horn Point strongly beckoned to this residence’s new empty-nester owners. But the 1950’s era house itself, which had been subject to several renovations over the years, lacked that “special something.” They decided to fully renovate it, correcting deficiencies in the prior layout to take full advantage of the dynamic views.
A new covered entrance opens into a reconfigured open first floor plan; dining, kitchen and living spaces flow seamlessly, drawing the eye through and out a dramatic window wall to the Severn River waterway. New staircases help to open each of the home’s three levels, creating a feeling of greater spaciousness. The reconfigured master suite, now a peaceful, private oasis, opens onto a large deck that overlooks the Severn. The new plan results in both a more neighborhood-friendly entry elevation and a more garden and waterfront-oriented rear. The renovation includes a new kitchen, new baths, and entirely new finishes throughout the house. Built-in cabinetry maximizes functionality in both expected and unexpected spaces. The renovation also provided the opportunity to upgrade all of the home’s systems, including tankless water heaters and high efficiency mechanical equipment.
